Hedley Answers Fan Questions

Posted by

CONFRONT: Interesting.  Sarah who is 18 asks if you could go back and do it all over again, is there anything you would change?

DAVE:  Well you know, the stock answer would be ‘I wouldn’t change a thing’ but i would change… I don’t know.  Maybe I’d change and be an electrician.

CONFRONT: Really?  (laughing).  An electrician?

DAVE:  NAHHHHHHHHHHHH!  What am i saying…

CONFRONT: It’s a tough call I gotta say.  Rock Star… Electrician…  It could go both ways.

DAVE: (laughing) well you know…  but I mean we have the best job in the world.  We’ve played together for a long time but it’s still the same exciting feeling when you get to the airport in the morning and you see the rest of the guys and you have a casual kind of a chat and then you realize that you’re going to play in Montreal that night in the freezing cold and sing our hearts out.  And that’s awesome.  That’s what we try to do.  All ages shows where everybody can come out and have a good time.

CONFRONT: Since you guys are known for being pranksters, Taylor from Peterborough would like to know what the worst prank you’ve ever pulled was and what the worst prank ever pulled on you was.

DAVE: Oh I can’t really tell you the worst one.  It was in an airport and the guys we pulled it on wouldn’t like us very much but if they ever get back from Northern Siberia they can let us know how it went.  The worst one that’s been pulled on us would be when we had our gas cap locked on us one time.

CONFRONT: That had to be funny;  for them.  13 year old Julia from Toronto asks: If you could listen to one song forever what would it be?

DAVE: “It’s a Small World After All”.  I’d feel like I was in a Disney ride the whole time.

CONFRONT: That and you’d likely want to shoot yourself but ok.

DAVE: (laughing). That too.

CONFRONT: Emily from Owen Sound wants to know if you enjoy being approached by fans?

DAVE: ummm… yeah I do.  We get a variety of people that come up and say hey.  And it’s always nice to hear what people have to say.  So come on up and say hi.  Try to do it when I don’t have food in my mouth because I will spill it all over the place and make a fool of myself.

CONFRONT: ally who is 13 and from Alberta would like to know what the most encouraging piece of advice you’ve been given is.

DAVE: Advice?  Don’t take yourself too seriously.

CONFRONT: dmdork asks what’s the writing process like for you guys?

DAVE: It’s kind of cathartic.  What’s happened over the last two years really poured itself out and Jacob has really become a great song writer but we do always write together.  The songs come from the band.

CONFRONT: Is there one thing that fans do that annoy you or anger you?

DAVE: No.  Just nobody try to mail themselves to my house again.

CONFRONT: (laughing)  that did not really happen…

DAVE: I got a big box with some air holes in it…

LABEL REP: Last question Angel.

DAVE: Wow!  That’s it?

LABEL REP: Yeah.  You gotta be on stage in 15.

CONFRONT: It’s ok.  There were so many I’d never have gotten through all of them.  So let’s make the last question, what band would most like to tour with?

DAVE: I’d say Kings of Leon.  Their new album is awesome.  Them or U2.  I saw them play in Toronto and had amazing seats.  Chris actually wrangled down a guy who got us seats right in the center and it was awesome.  Them and the Rolling Stones are the bands that I listened to when I was young.  I remember my grade 8 drama teacher brought in a bunch of cassette tapes of all the U2 albums and was like “here you go” and got me really into them.  It was a big moment in my musical life even though I only got into U2 like 20 years after a lot of people.

CONFRONT: Ok well thank you so much for taking the time to talk with me despite all the confusion and it being so last minute.

DAVE: No problem.  Try to stay warm out there.

CONFRONT: You too.  Have a good show.

So there you have it.  The few questions I was able to get answered.  For those of you whose questions didn’t make the cut, don’t worry.  I have every intention of asking them at the first opportunity and this time I promise to not write down the wrong phone number.

In the hopes of inching toward your forgiveness, CONFRONT is running a new contest this month in which you can win the opportunity to be one of the first to own a copy of the band’s new cd, Never Too Late.  Check it out in the contest section.

Also, check out our picture gallery to see the shots I took during the show.  The gallery can be accessed through our Library of Content.
