Tegan and Sara – ‘Sainthood’

This is the first album by Tegan and Sara to feature a song co-written by the pair, as they usually choose to write separately. However, it was not written while Tegan and Sara stayed together in New Orleans as an attempt to write together. No songs from that time made it on to the album, although one such song lends its title to that of the record. The song was inspired by a Leonard Cohen lyric. The record also includes co-written songs from Tegan’s side project with Hunter Burgan, bassist of AFI

Michael Jackson – ‘This Is It’

‘This Is It’ is an upcoming two disc compilation album, featuring the music of Michael Jackson, coinciding with the release of Michael Jackson’s This Is It, a concert film documenting Jackson’s rehearsals for a concert series of the same name.  The press release announcing the two-disc album describes it as a “stand-alone companion” to the motion picture.  The first disc will consist of original album masters of some of Jackson’s biggest hits, arranged in the same sequence as they appear in the film, and ends with two versions of the previously unreleased song “This Is It”. The song also features in the film’s closing sequence, and includes backing vocals by members of The Jacksons.  The second disc will include unreleased versions of some of Michael Jackson’s classic hits.  It also includes a spoken word poem by Jackson, titled “Planet Earth”, which was originally printed in the liner notes of the ‘Dangerous’ album.
