Here are the New Releases for the week of February 16th 2010–

Helping Haiti – ‘Everybody Hurts’ (Benefit Single)

-This is a previous release but I thought it important to publish for the Haiti Benefit.

In an attempt to raise money for the victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown asked Simon Cowell to arrange a charity single. Cowell chose “Everybody Hurts”, Brown agreed to waive VAT on the single and R.E.M. agreed to waive all royalties.  Proceeds from the single will be split between The Sun‘s Helping Haiti fund and the Disasters Emergency Committee. The song was premiered on radio stations nationally on February 2, 2010. The single was released both physically and digitally on February 7, 2010, with the physical release being brought forward by one day due to demand.

Story Of The Year – ‘The Constant’

‘The Constant’ is the fourth studio album by American rock band Story of the Year. It will be released on February 16, 2010 through Epitaph Records, and was produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette who has also produced albums by Chevelle and Escape the Fate.  Frontman Dan Marsala explained that the album title symbolizes the band’s work ethic and commitment to both themselves and their fans. “Music is the constant thing in life for us,” he said. “When I go to bed I think about music and when I wake up it’s the first thing on my mind. The Constant can mean anything; hopefully our band will go on forever and we want music to remain a constant thing in our lives no matter what.”  The band uploaded a new song “To the Burial” to their Facebook page on October 23, 2009. The song was also released on the iTunes music store on November 27, 2009. On December 10, Russell and Phillips premiered “I’m Alive” from the album on the Point radio station. On December 31, the band released the song for radio airplay. As stated on their Twitter, the band released “I’m Alive” as an official single on January 5, 2010.
