August 30th week:

Beirut – ‘The Rip Tide’ – ‘The Rip Tide’ is the third studio album by indie folk band Beirut, released in August 2011. After recording, Beirut toured throughout Europe and the US, playing several songs that would appear on the album, including, “Vagabond,” “Santa Fe,” and “Port of Call.”. In June of 2011, the band released The Rip Tide’s first single, “East Harlem,” with “Goshen” as its B-Side. They also officially announced the existence of the new album, disclosing both the title and track listing. On the second of August, though the songs had already been leaked and appeared throughout the internet, Beirut started allowing fans to pre-order the album, with MP3′s of each song automatically being sent to the buyer, and the physical copies scheduled to be sent out at the end of the month.

September 6th week:

Thrice – ‘Major/Minor’ – ‘Major/Minor’ is the seventh studio album released by the American rock band Thrice. The album will be released on September 6, 2011 through Vagrant Records. After the recording for Major/Minor had been completed, Thrice returned to their home studio to record “two or three” additional tracks to be used as B-sides.  The home studio was also used to record Thrice’s 2007/2008 albums The Alchemy Index Vols. I & II and The Alchemy Index Vols. III & IV, and Beggars. Major/Minor will initially be released in a double LP vinyl record format on September 6, 2011 through Vagrant Records. The gatefold vinyl edition comes with additional liner notes from the band members, and the first pressing will be limited to 4,000 copies. Two weeks later on September 20 in the US, and September 19 in the UK, Major/Minor will be released in CD and digital download formats.

September 13th week:

Alice Cooper – ‘Welcome 2 My Nightmare’ – The idea for the album came about soon after the thirtieth anniversary of the original ‘Welcome 2 My Nightmare’ album, while Cooper was talking with producer Bob Ezrin, who proposed the idea of a sequel to Welcome to My Nightmare. Cooper liked the idea, and decided to recruit previous members of the Alice Cooper band. The concept of the album was described by Cooper as “another nightmare, and this one is even worse than the last one.” Cooper said that he had originally intended to make a sequel to his 2008 album ‘Along Came A Spider’, but decided to make the Nightmare sequel after Ezrin explained that he “wasn’t really into it.”

September 20th week:

Pearl Jam – ‘Pearl Jam Twenty’ – ‘Pearl Jam Twenty’ is an upcoming album by American alternative rock band Pearl Jam and is the soundtrack to the film of the same name. It is scheduled to be released on September 20, 2011.  ‘Pearl Jam Twenty’ is an upcoming American documentary film directed by Cameron Crowe about the band Pearl Jam. Preliminary footage was being shot as of June 2010. The film is scheduled for a 2011 release, and will have an accompanying book and soundtrack. Crowe completed filming in April 2011, after using nearly 20 hours of footage of the band for the documentary. It is scheduled to premiere at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Blink-182 – ‘Neighborhoods’ – ‘Neighborhoods’ is the sixth studio album by the American pop punk band Blink-182, tentatively scheduled for release September 27, 2011 through Geffen Records. Their first album of new material in eight years, its recording followed the band’s 2009 reunion after a four-year hiatus. It will be the first Blink-182 album produced by the band members without the help of an outside record producer.

Nirvana – ‘Nevermind’ (20th anniversary edition)Nevermind was certified Gold and Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in November 1991, and was certified Diamond in March 1999. It was also certified Diamond in Canada (1,000,000 units sold) by the Canadian Recording Industry Association in March 2001 and two times Platinum in the United Kingdom. In 1996, Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs released Nevermind on vinyl as part of its ANADISQ 200 series, and as a 24-carat gold Compact Disc. The CD pressings included “Endless, Nameless”. The LP version quickly sold out its limited pressing but the CD edition stayed in print for years. Universal Music Enterprises has announced its plan to release a 4-CD/1-DVD Super Deluxe Edition of Nevermind, intended for release in September 2011.
