I
t was at Underworld, that friends and family watched the young musicians of Basement Superheroes play a full one hour gig for the first time.
The trio from Laval, who made me instantly think of Duke Squad, started the show strong and one would think that the energy would decrease as the songs went on, but the opposite occurred. The more they played, the more the crowd was screaming and giving them a giant boost of energy. This show had everything a good gig needed: a lead singer who could talk and interact with the crowd (sometimes with a little cockiness, but in a cute way), a good drum solo (always fun to showcase the guy in the back) and not one, but two medleys of really popular songs by other artists (Party Rock Anthem – LMFAO to Someone like you – Adele).
At the end of the show, the crowd seemed pleased with what they had experienced and eager to come back for more. For a first time, the result was pretty convincing, and the potential is there to become a great pop-rock band that teenagers will love.
