Korn: The Path of Totality
This is my year for Jonathan Davis music; the latest album from Korn is a fabulous amelioration over the last couple of releases. Collaborating with a host of Metal, Nu Metal and electronic artists to create a simultaneous triumphant return to form and spectacular reinvention of the sound we’ve always associated with the group.
Yes, a lot of Dubstep Electronica has been added to the sound, but the result is actually something akin to Nine Inch Nails or Frontline Assembly’s harsh, grating techno. The intensity, power and passion of the music, the visceral poetry of the lyrics, and of course Jonathan Davis’ distinctive vocals, have been reinvigorated, regenerated by the Electronica elements. There isn’t a song here that I can fault, or praise above the other amazing tracks on this one. Returning or faithful fan, you should pick this one up, and play it loud, long and often.
Korn: The Path of Totality 10/10
