What should you check out during the week of June 14th 2012? Well lead singer Matt Walst from My Darkest Days made a music suggestion during CONFRONT’s interview with the band a few weeks ago.

MATT: A band called Kopek, they are from…

SAL: Ireland!

MATT: Yeah Ireland. They’re a really cool band.

SAL: They’re kind of STP meets Nirvana almost.

MATT: Yeah it’s really unique and cool.

Irish trio Kopek’s history stretches back a decade. Drummer Shane Cooney and bassist Brad Kinsella grew up as next-door neighbors in Dublin, and shared a love of classic and modern rock music.

The first singer who answered their ad in a local musician’s magazine was Daniel Jordan from Ashbourne, Co Meath, and from there Bloom was born. which became the title of on of their early albums and the band took on the name Kopek.

Early gigs in and around Dublin included many a battle of the bands contests, which the trio won with studied regularity. From 2002 to 2009 Kopek toured relentlessly, and continued to win competitions around the world. In 2005 Kopek won the Best Live Act at the Global Battle Of The Bands, garnering them $100,000 and a world tour. [1]

In 2009 Dublin based Record, Publishing & Production company Religion Music signed the band to a large multi-album deal, for both recording and publishing.. Their debut album is titled White Collar Lies. Kopek toured the U.S for 6 months (2011) from January to July in support of White Collar Lies Release. Their single “Cocaine Chest Pains” reached number 25 in the American active rock charts and went top ten in Canada in Active rock for Ten weeks. 2012 Kopek sign European record deal for release of “White Collar lies” in early 2012. First single to be released Love Is Dead.

Kopek’s US debut album, White Collar Lies, was released on iTunes in June 2010, and a physical release on January 18, 2011. The album has already been met with high praise since its digital release: “White Collar Lies by Kopek is genius through and through, and is an astonishing feat for a debut album. If Kopek’s musical talents and writing abilities continue to increase and mature in the direction in which they are currently pointed then they are poised to conquer the world!”[1] Their first single, “Love is Dead,” is to be featured on the upcoming Saw 3D soundtrack, out October 26. The band will begin a nonstop tour of the US in 2011. Kopek sign European record contract and release for “White Collar Lies” is due for early 2012. WCL will included a bonus track called “Running Scared”. It will also include new booklet & artwork design and different track order listing for European release.
