Even though the temperature in Montreal was kind of cold, the Metropolis was burning up for the rock and roll band The Hives.

The last time this city got to experience The Hives was back in 2008 and fans were anticipating a great show. They were already screaming at the top of their lungs when the lights dimmed and the first note was played.

Arriving in their classy suits and top hats, the band made the crowd go wild opening the show with ”Come on”. The funny thing is that their polished look really doesn’t reflect how this band acts on stage. They spent the entire night jumping around, kicking things and throwing the microphones all over the place. The crowd responded to that blast of energy with crowd surfing, pushing and jumping. The energy was so high throughout the night that it felt like the show just flew by.

The singer Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist is one of the most amazing show men that I’ve ever had the chance to see. He took the time to interact with the crowd between almost every single song and, if possible, made them scream even louder. He was even able to make everyone in the venue sit down on the floor at one point! His false modesty about how his band is the best band in the world and also his attempt to speak french made everyone laugh.

With that show, The Hives proved that they’re still one of those amazing live bands and that, even with that pretty long break, they are still relevant in today’s music scene. We hope we won’t need to wait as long this time for them to come back.
