News: Battle For Life/ Mackenzie 1st Album Release Party at Club Soda August 9th 2012

On August 9th Club Soda will be playing host to “Battle for Life”, a night full of music for a good cause.

We were contacted by organizer Heidi Jassinger regarding the event and we wanted to share her story with readers.

“I know a lot of people who have been affected by cancer in one way or another and I’m no different. I lost my father to lung cancer almost four years ago. One day I decided that I was going to put together a concert to raise as much money as I possibly could for cancer research. I didn’t want any other twelve year old girl to have to go through what I had. I have never organized an event like this, on such a large scale, so I contacted a good friend of mine and asked for advice on how to put this together. After a lot of hard work and help from some amazing local bands like Desert States and All Day Dreamers, we managed to organize a show at Underworld on September 17^th 2011. The event raised over 2600$.

At that moment we decided that we had to hold more than one show and that’s how my company Heidi Go Siik was born. We are in the process of putting together the next event “Heidi Go Siik & Steve’s Music Store Presents: Mackenzie 1^st Album Release Party and Battle for Life” which will be held on August 9^th at Club Soda.

Part of this show is a Battle of the Bands so we reached out to Steve’s Music Store and they generously donated the 1^st and 2^nd place prize for the competing bands. Mackenzie 1^st will also be celebrating the release of their album “The Chronicles” and will be donating 1$ for every album sold between now and the event to The Canadian Cancer Society.” – Heidi Jassinger
