Hearing your annoying alarm go off while you repeatedly press the snooze button is no way to start your morning. Here are 5 songs that I like to listen to when I wake up to get me pumped up- or that can at least get me out of bed:
1. “Everybody Talks” by Neon Trees
I first heard of Neon Trees when they released their hit song “Animal” in 2010, and to be honest, I’ve missed them ever since. Lead singer Tyler Glenn has a voice like no other, and there’s something about this song that reminds me of those summer nights with friends and just having a good time. If anything can jumpstart your day, it’s this song- and chances are it will have you dancing around your room.
2. “Do My Thing” by Estelle featuring Janelle Monae
This is another one of those songs that instantly get me on my feet. It’s super catchy and Estelle has a great voice- and I was happy to see more of Janelle Monae after hearing her in We Are Young by FUN. The song radiates confidence and boldness that will give you the perfect attitude to get through your day.
3. “Ready or Not” by Bridgit Mendler
You might recognize her from Disney’s “Good Luck Charlie”, and whether or not you’re into the Disney scene, you can’t deny the catchiness of this song. It’s unlike anything I’ve heard from Disney before. It has a catchy, reggae sound that’s guaranteed to get stuck inside your head.
4. “Warrior” by Kimbra featuring Mark Foster and A-TRAK
Kimbra is such a versatile artist and her most recent album “Cobra” definitely shows that. This song has one of those beats that’s somewhere between being indie but pop at the same time, and regardless makes you want to dance. The song features Mark Foster from Foster The People, as well as A-TRAK, which of course makes this song even better.
5. “Radioactive” by Marina and the Diamonds
Marina and the Diamonds is one of the most unique artists out there. Her album “Electra Heart” came out in the spring, and it’s filled with songs that have catchy beats and are perfect for getting ready in the morning. CONFRONT actually spoke with Marina in August when she performed with Coldplay, click here to check out the interview: http://www.confrontmagazine.com/2012/08/marina-and-the-diamonds/
Hopefully mornings can be easier on you with your new playlist!

Totally love this!!
