Green Day Singer Billie Joe Armstrong Enters Rehab

by

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong made, what was said to be, quite the scene on Saturday at the iheartradio Music Festival. Due to a large lineup the bands set was cut short and as lead singer Armstrong was notified that they would have one minute left on stage he lost it and began screaming before smashing his guitar and exiting the stage.

Band members Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt have been trying to convince the front man to enter rehab for substance abuse for quite awhile now and it looks like that time has come.

The band released this statement:

“Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse.  We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.  We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.”

This all happens just days before the release of part one of their three part album release. Promotional tours have been put on hold as “¡Uno!” is released tomorrow.

We wish Billie Joe the best in his recovery!
