Recently, Jack’s Mannequin announced that the third annual ‘Dear Jack’ benefit performance would be their last as a band together. The benefit is already an extremely popular and well known event in the music industry; topped with the fact that it would be the bands’ final performance, it sold out in record time.
It was for this reason and because of third party websites re-selling tickets for that benefit concert at outrageous prices that Andrew McMahon, the founder for the ‘Dear Jack’ foundation, decided that there would be a second date to the benefit concert.
In his letter to friends and fans of the band, Andrew writes: “We are incredibly grateful to share this moment with as many of our fans as possible as well as increase the impact we make in the lives of young adults who have come face to face with cancer. Both nights will be truly special and I know how excited the band and I are to share them with you.”
The full statement can be read in full on Andrew’s website by clicking here and explains the ticketing system that has been put in place to prevent scalpers from taking advantage once again.
I personally think the ticketing system is a fantastic idea, and it’s so commendable that Andrew has decided to add this second date, raising (hopefully) twice as much for ‘Dear Jack’. Now, if only that concert were closer to Montreal, I would be there in a heartbeat!
What do you think of the addition of a second date?
