Jenia’s Playlist: Imagine Dragons, Christina Perri, Aerosmith and more

by

We decided to introduce this section to the website to give staff, readers and artists the chance to let everyone know what’s on repeat on their playlist.

Here’s a list of the Top 5 songs I have on repeat at this moment:

1. “It’s Time” – Imagine Dragons

This band was introduced to me by a good friend who shares a very similar taste to me. He described the band as Kings of Leon but even better. I instantly hesitated as, honestly, I am not a fan of KOL. He pushed me until finally I decided to give them a listen. I’m happy I did. Their latest album “Night Visions” was just recently released and has the potential to be played over and over again on my iPod. “It’s Time” has stood out as my favorite off of the record so far.

2. “A Thousand Years” – Christina Perri

I am a huge fan of Christina Perri. Her voice and presence as an artist is incredible. Unfortunately seeing as how I have steered clear of the Twilight series I was behind on falling in love with the single she wrote for the movies entitled “A Thousand Years.” The song is a powerful story that encompasses an eternal love. I’ve even been told recently that a coworker has decided to use it as her wedding song. I couldn’t agree more with this decision.

3. “What Could Have Been Love” – Aerosmith

Everyone has a band that they remember listening to from the earliest possible age. For me that band is Aerosmith. We used to blare their albums around my house and since then have become my favorite band for the songs and the memories that came with them. I was amongst the millions of fans that were ecstatic to learn that the band would be releasing a new record this fall. They released this single recently and I fell in love immediately. It reminded me of their older ballads like “What it Takes”, “Hole in my Soul” and “Cryin’”.

4.  “Hall of Fame” – The Script ft. Will.I.Am

This is another band that has been on my iPod since their first album but, unfortunately, I am yet to see live. The band announced the release of their third studio album “#3″ which has already been released in the UK and will be released October 9th in North America. This is the first single off their record and features will.i.am. The song has a break towards the end that encourages listeners to be “students, teachers, politicians, preachers, believers, leaders, astronauts, champions and truth seekers.” This particular verse hooked me right off the bat.

5. “Both Sides Now” – Carly Rae Jepsen

I recently posted in our Music News section that Carly Rae Jepsen had performed a cover of Joni Mitchells hit song “Both Sides Now.” She did such a great job that I couldn’t help adding it to my playlist.
