A few days ago, Matt Andersen was brought to my attention by one of my friends. He sent me this song and I couldn’t help but instantly fall in love with this man’s incredible voice.
Andersen is a blues singer-songwriter and guitarist from New Brunswick. When he was 14, he picked up a guitar and before he knew it, was playing classic rock and top 40 covers in pub bands while studying studio engineering. It was when he discovered blues that he found his true calling.
“Through Eric Clapton I got into B.B. King, which led me to the Chicago electric stuff and eventually back to the Mississippi Delta guys. What really hit me most about the blues was its total honesty.”
Since 2002, he has performed over 200 shows a year and has toured the UK 4 times. The Times even went on to calling him “Canada’s Greatest Guitarist”. In 2010, after being the first Canadian to win Memphis’s International Blues Challenge, he joined Old Crow Medicine Show on numerous festivals in France, Italy and the United States.
That being said, even if you are not a blues fan, I highly suggest you check Matt Anderson out. Fall in love with his voice and feel the emotion. After all, that is what music is about. Allow your heart to melt a little while listening to none other than “When My Angel Gets The Blues”.
If you enjoyed this as much as I did, Matt will be playing a show in Chateauguay, on the south shore of Montreal, on November 16th. You can purchase tickets right here: http://www.ville.chateauguay.qc.ca/en/node/1776
Thank you Justin!
