Miley Cyrus hosted this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, and as expected, it was one crazy night! Between her near-naked ensembles (and a very unfortunate nip slip — oops!), her constant swearing, and Kanye West‘s long rant — and the announcement of his 2020 presidential campaign — it’s not an award show that people will soon forget.
Ending the show, Miley was introduced by a group of LGBTQ individuals who worked with her on a recent Happy Hippie Foundation project and surprised the crowd with a performance of a new song (titled “Dooo It!”). But this is Miley we’re talking about, so she didn’t just perform, she brought out a swarm of drag queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race to tear up the stage with her! As if that wasn’t enough she also dropped a SURPRISE FREE album. She’s just being Miley!
The album is called Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz and contains 23 new songs, including collaborations with rapper Big Sean, Sarah Barthel of the electro-rock duo Phantogram, and singer Ariel Pink. At first listen, the album definitely sounds unlike anything the singer has ever done before. Think more psychedelic, indie rock with some electronic influences mixed in.
