I have to thank Spotify for bringing so many incredible artists to my attention. Most recently I was listening to the “Indie All Star” playlist and a song caught my attention. It was “Fever”, released this past January, from Canadian rock band Royal Tusk.
I had no excuse for not checking out Royal Tusk sooner, as the band was formed by former Ten Second Epic band mates Daniel Carriere and Sandy MacKinnon, a band I had been a big fan of during my teens.
Royal Tusk has shared the stage with Big Wreck, Dear Rouge and Metric, and released their debut album “Mountain” back in 2014. Now the group is gearing up to release their sophomore record “DealBreaker” on May 6, 2016 via MapleMusic Recordings. The album was produced by Eric Ratz (Big Wreck, Monster Truck, Arkells and Billy Talent), and Big Wreck’s Ian Thornley was so impressed, he delivered a guitar solo on the track “So Long The Build Up”.
