Song Suggestion: “Between Me and You” by Brandon Flowers

When Brandon Flowers decided to go solo about six years ago, I was hesitant at first, but it turns out it was probably the best thing to happen to him. Not that I don’t love The Killers, I do, but this move allowed him to be able to express himself on a whole other level.

Why I hadn’t heard about his latest album, The Desired Effect, I have no idea. I first heard “Between Me and You” in a store and though the voice was very familiar, I had to Shazam it to find out exactly who it was.

The song is hauntingly beautiful and probably one of the frontman’s strongest yet. Lyrically, rhythmically, and vocally, this track – and the entire record at that – proves that sometimes going solo really does give The Desired Effect (get it?).

The track was also recently featured on an episode of the new hit TV show Quantico.
