The music industry has suffered another major loss. The artist known as Prince died today. He was 57.
TMZ reported that the singer’s body was discovered at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota early Thursday morning. On April 15th, he had a medical emergency that forced his private jet to make an emergency landing, but he appeared in concert the next day. His team told TMZ he had the flu. He cancelled two earlier shows, however, because of illness.
There are not many details surrounding the singer’s death at this time.
Prince (full name Prince Rogers Nelson) leaves behind an incomparable legacy as one of the greatest performer’s of our time. After rocketing to fame in 1982, the singer solidified himself as an icon. Besides being one of the best-selling artists of all-time, he also boasts seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and was number 27 on Rolling Stone‘s list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
