This is not a drill: Britney Spears is set to release a brand new single!
Robin Leach alerted fans on Twitter this weekend about Britney’s plans to release her new single and video in May with her ninth studio album to follow soon after. Robin writes for The Las Vegas Sun, which has been known to report accurate announcements about Britney ever since starting her Piece Of Me residency (including reports about her performing at last year’s Billboard Awards).
Robin revealed more details about Britney’s new music in a column for the Las Vegas Sun‘s Vegas DeLuxe today. The single is called “Make Me (Oooh)” and the music video is being shot next week, and will be released about four weeks later. Britney’s latest studio album should be released a month after the single “if all goes as planned.”
A source from Britney’s team told Robin:
“The concept for the video is all set.
“The single and the video will thrill fans because it’s all new, totally different and somewhat unexpected. It’s different; it’s a turn. She’s gone from pretty straight-forward pop to a really interesting vibe with a lot of really cool stuff.”
“I just know that the direction I’m going in is so good,” Britney revealed in her latest V Magazine cover story. “It’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time. I’m proud of the work, and it’s very different; it’s not what you would think at all. But I’m not rushing anything. I just want it to be done right, so that my fans will truly appreciate it.”
This will be Britney’s first album since 2013’s Britney Jean.
