Cailee Rae is a young artist on the rise; finding her niche via Vine and YouTube, Cailee Rae began her career by singing covers, and is now releasing  her first original single, “Anchor,” this month. Despite being a teenager, she has the vocal strength of someone far older, and has garnered half of a million followers with her voice. Her talent and creativity is multifaceted; she writes her own music, finding inspiration in watching the ebb and flow of people in airports. She will likely become a huge pop star in the next few years, so it’s best to get on the bandwagon now. You will surely be calling yourself a fan of hers and become a CaiBae.

Confront: How did you get your start in music?

Cailee Rae: I always loved music… I was always singing around my house in my own little world. But I really found my passion when I got a guitar in 2nd grade and began songwriting. I fell in love and starting appreciating music on another level.

Confront: How would you best describe your sound?

Cailee Rae: The best way I can describe my sound is Pop with a twist of different genres in it. It’s really fun and unique and I think what makes it cool is how fun and relatable it is.

Confront: Who inspires you, whether it be musically or personally?

Cailee Rae: I’m inspired by all kinds of people and things. The first few people that come to mind are Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith. Taylor is a amazing business woman and artist, Ed is a unique writer and singer, and Sam has this way of communicating emotion through his songs.  He can make you cry with just one note of his voice!

Confront: Who would you love to tour with and why?

Cailee Rae: I would have loved to go on tour with Selena Gomez!  I love her “Revival” tour concept, she’s so great. It would have been fun to be a part of something like that.

Confront: How do you deal with your newfound fame? Are there any difficulties or struggles that you’ve run into, as such a young artist?

Cailee Rae: Honestly, I’m just trying to stay very grateful and humbled. I’m so blessed to be where I am and the best thing I can do is keep working hard and do my best at climbing the obstacles that are ahead of me.

Confront: What songs are you currently loving?

Cailee Rae: Beyonce’s new album. IT’S EVERYTHING. GIRL POWER!!!!!

Confront: What is your favorite song to perform live?

Cailee Rae: I love performing my new single “Anchor.”  I just started performing it and it’s so emotional, but so much fun.

Confront: How has social media changed the music industry?

Cailee Rae: I think the music industry is constantly evolving and adjusting. Social media is one of those examples. It’s what our world focuses a lot on so it’s important as an artist to be present in it. It’s a different form of sharing you and your work! It’s not a bad thing at all.

Confront: What has been the coolest fan interaction that you’ve had so far?

Cailee Rae: There have been so many. My fans are amazing. One that comes to mind was meeting this fan in New York. I had a secret shoot there and a bunch of my fans were following me around all day just by looking at where I was on my Snapchat. I ended up buying them ice cream, hanging out with them and chatting. It was so fun. Love them. GO CAIBAES!

Confront: As a music fan, what has been your favorite concert to attend?

Cailee Rae: TWENTY ONE PILOTS! They are so amazing and entertaining. The concert completely blew my mind.

Confront: Are you planning on touring any time soon?

Cailee Rae: I would love to tour after my new music comes out. I want to meet and hug my CaiBaes. I also love being with my band. I’m just totally obsessed with touring!

Confront: What can we expect from you in 2016? What do our readers need to know about you?

Cailee Rae: In 2016, expect a lot of content. I have a lot of fun stuff coming up and I’m so excited to share. I have put my heart into everything and I hope people can open up and put their hearts into it as well. I can’t wait.
