Artists You Won’t Want To Miss At Bestival 2016

Bestival Toronto

Where has the time gone? Summer is here and festival season is well upon us! Next weekend, Bestival will be underway from June 11–12 at Woodbine Park, Toronto. This year, Bestival won’t disappoint with an awesome line-up and an immersive experience beyond the music with things like sound healing workshops, the Bestival inflatable church, and a dress up tent. This year’s theme is Summer of Love. So be prepared to get your hippy on!

There are tons of great acts playing this year but here are some noteworthy ones you should be sure to check out!

  • Tame Impala
Coming off their amazing 2015 album Currents which topped many Best of 2015 lists (including mine), Tame Impala promises to bring electro-psychedelic-pop to the main stage.
  • Grimes
Grimes also dropped a crowd-favourite last year with her catchy, pop, rock, and dance-infused album Art Angels. Her last show in Toronto sold-out quickly, Grimes is one you won’t want to miss!
  • The Cure
Legendary British new wave, punk band The Cure will be headlining on Sunday. “Friday I’m In Love” is one of the best songs to come out of the 90s.
  • Daughter
Daughter released their new album Not to Disappear earlier this year full of dreamy, alternative rock.
  • Jamie xx
Jamie xx played Bestival last year but this time he will be playing on the main stage. His 2015 album In Colour received a Grammy nomination and topped many Best of lists.
  • The Wombats
I first heard of The Wombats in 2008. I was obsessed with their infectious song “Let’s Dance to Joy Division” for a substantial period of time. It’s great to hear that they have released a new album and should be fun to watch live.
  • Reeps One
Reeps one is an English beat-boxer. It’s amazing what he is able to do with his voice and lungs.
