WE ARE FREAKING OUT!
Britney Spears is officially confirmed as the first performer at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. Rumors started flying about the pop icon’s performance when she cancelled two of her Las Vegas shows the same weekend as the VMAs — it was either a sure-fire clue that she was performing, or just a cruel coincidence. Luckily for us, it’s actually happening!
Britney and MTV both tweeted out a commercial for the show, featuring a snake slithering through a dark room (a reference to Britney’s unforgettable “Slave 4 U” performance) before we hear Britney’s voice: “The VMAs don’t just give you a stage, they give you a story. It’s a way of taking a fraction of a second, and making it live forever. Before you know it, it’s history. Before you know it, it’s Britney, bitch.”
MTV have since changed their Twitter icon and banner to Britney-centric posters.
Can’t wait to see what Britney has in store for us — you never know what you’re going to get when Britney is at the VMAs, but you know without a doubt that everyone will be talking about it the next day.
The VMAs air on MTV on Aug. 28th at 9 PM.
