Where are you Frank?! It’s been almost four years since the release of Ocean’s debut album, Channel Orange, an album so innovative that it not only won the Grammy Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album, but virtually prompted the very creation of the category. This soulful R&B meets edgy hip-hop maverick of an album has since paved the way for the development of artists such as The Weeknd, Chance the Rapper and Anderson Paak.
After four longs years of patiently waiting, Frank Ocean fans are now buzzing with anticipation and the pending release of Ocean’s sophomore studio album, Boys Don’t Cry. This sweet anticipation turned somewhat sour last Friday as the heavily rumored Boys Don’t Cry release date came and went without so much as a new single. Ocean’s camp remains lip-sealed but for one mysterious breadcrumb: a library return date card. Followers of trusted Twitter fan account @TeamFrankDaily are revisiting the card that was originally posted at the beginning of July, a card stamped with a series of “return dates”. The most soon-approaching of these dates can be found in blank ink near the top of the card, “Nov 13 2016”. Is this to be Boys Don’t Cry final release date? With no official word from the man himself, it looks like we’ll just have to wait and see. Until that time, Frank, we’ll be thinking bout you.
