Zeds Dead has just dropped a new music video for “Blame,” a collaboration with EDM powerhouse Diplo and Swedish singer/rapper Elliphant. Elliphant’s voice meshes perfectly with the industrial-sounding, bass-heavy backing. This collaboration makes a lot of sense. Elliphant recently toured with Major Lazer, which Diplo is a part of, and with her rap background, she fits right into Zeds Dead’s hip-hop beginnings. This track has a huge, riveting drop, so powerful that I actually got goosebumps. “Blame” is grungy with some hip-hop and glitch leanings that should be universally appealing.
The video for “Blame” may seem random, but for some reason, it matches very well with the track. The vibrant colors and cartoon theme are reminiscent of 80s character, He-Man, and the imagery is both dreamy and violent, intertwining with the lead-ups and drops of the track.
Be sure to be on the lookout for my show review for Zeds Dead when they perform in St. Louis on October 17th at The Pageant!
