In case you missed it, Sum 41 released their highly anticipated 6th studio album 13 Voices yesterday.Fans had already gotten a taste of the album prior to its release thanks to the 3 tracks the band has released since early this summer. The latest track to be released was “God Save Us All (Death to POP)” and was released on September 28th (listen to the track below).
It has been 5 years since Sum 41’s last album, Screaming Bloody Murder. It is also the first album for Sum 41 as a 5-piece band. 13 Voices was produced and engineered by Deryck himself in Los Angeles. Writing the album helped Deryck get back on his feet following his hospitalization a couple of years back.
“I had to learn how to do everything again-my motor skills, learning how to play guitar again… I couldn’t even walk at the time. It was really difficult, but at the same time if I didn’t have a record to make, I don’t think I would have recovered as quickly, or even at all. Writing music gave me a purpose. I had to get better.”
The band is currently on tour with Senses Fail and As It Is. If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, act fast because most of the upcoming shows are sold out!
