THE POSITIONS WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR
Music News Writer:
As a CONFRONT Music News Writer you will:
- Keep up to date on music announcements and post your own short pieces on the latest news. Unless it is a huge topic we do not expect more then a couple of paragraphs per submission. You will be taught how to post these pieces via WordPress
- You will be required to research and write relevant music news pieces at least 3 times per week and post on the CONFRONT website at your own leisure
*There will be the opportunity to move up and write more pieces for the magazine (if interested), with a main focus on music news to ensure that the section is kept up to date*
*It is not necessary to live in Montreal to apply for this position*
Skill requirements:
- Basic knowledge of WordPress an asset however not required
- Knowledge of social media
- Ability to work with deadlines
- Communication skills
- Basic knowledge of music and pop culture an asset
- Able to take instruction & criticism with ease; willing to learn
- Organized, and process driven
- Able to multi-task
- Proven display of initiative
- Represent CONFRONT Magazine with integrity, respect and mature judgment
Qualifications:
- Good language skills both written and spoken
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word or equivalent

Freelance Writer:
**Specifically looking for writers in TORONTO, as well as Montreal. Other cities are welcome as well, but these are our two main markets at the moment**
*Currently only looking to hire if you would like to cover in the genres of: rap, hip-hop, heavy metal, punk, rock, jazz, R&B, soul, country, experimental indie, or Top 40 radio music.We will accept applicants for other genres of music and will contact you when a position in that genre opens up.*
As a CONFRONT Magazine Freelancer you will:
- Keep up to date on music announcements and submit short pieces on the latest news. Unless it is a huge topic we do not expect more then a couple of paragraphs per submission. You will be taught how to post these pieces via WordPress.
- Write album reviews. You may write about any album that has caught your attention; good or bad.
- Attend shows and write reviews. We will provide one concert pass per show so that the writer may access the show and review for free.
- If you’re from Toronto or Montreal, we can also grant access to artist interviews, although this is something that you work up to after submitting other pieces of work first.
*You will be required to submit minimum one/two short articles per week. This can be a mix of any of the above listed*
*It is not necessary to live in Montreal to apply for this position*

Please note that for the moment, CONFRONT Magazine does not turn a profit and as such our staff works without monetary remuneration; however, compensation is available in the form of show access, band material etc.
