In 2008 the Simple Plan Foundation handed out $100,000 to many different types of organizations that are established to help troubled youth and/or youth in need. This year Simple Plan was proud to announce that they’ve gathered an amount of $170,000 to donate for the Simple Plan Foundation’s 2009-2010 fundraising efforts.
The Simple Plan foundation is donating funds to one international organization, War Child Canada, two national organizations, Jeunesse, J’ecoute – Kids Help Phone, Societe canadienne de la Sclerose en Plaques and lastly, 21 regional organizations including the Foundation du Centre hospitalier regional de Trois-Rivieres, Fondation Portage, Foundation de l’Hopital de Montreal pour Enfants, et Les Ateliers Art-Go.
Many of the organizations the Simple Plan Foundations chose to sponsor this year are the same as in 2008; however, two of the new sponsorships are musical therapy programs in hospitals and music development programs for under-privileged youth. The Simple Plan Foundation decided to
sponsor the “Musique X” and the “Garage A Musique” programs. These programs will provide a safe supervised learning environment for youth to start developing their talents.
The first benefit took place on Monday, September 24th at the Metropolis venue with over 800 guests, including several well-known celebrities. Fans and guests got a chance to meet and greet the members of Simple Plan and had the chance to participate in a double auction. Later that same night Simple Plan performed a full set of all their biggest hits for all their guests.
What’s next for Simple Plan? They are currently hard at work on the fourth album that is planned for released in the spring of 2010.
